Snapchat is releasing its My AI chatbot, powered by OpenAI, to all of its 750 million monthly users for free. My AI can now be added to group chats, and users can customise the bot’s appearance with a Bitmoji avatar. My AI can also make recommendations for AR filters or places to visit on the app’s map tab. In the future, users will be able to visually message My AI and receive generated responses. Snap CEO Evan Spiegel views the technology as “an awesome creative tool”. Despite problematic interactions that have surfaced, Spiegel says the overwhelming majority of interactions with My AI have been positive.
