The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has partnered with Tel Aviv-based start-up D-ID to utilise artificial intelligence (AI) and the metaverse for its digital diplomacy efforts. Director of the Digital Diplomacy Bureau, David Saranga, recently posted videos on Twitter featuring his likeness delivering messages in Arabic, Chinese Mandarin, Persian, Greek, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian and Turkish. Using D-ID’s generative AI video programme, the messages were broadcast using digital, human-like avatars that could speak multiple languages. Saranga said the use of AI in digital diplomacy is in its infancy, but highlighted its importance in getting the Israeli message across.
