Remini, an AI photo editing app, has gained immense popularity on TikTok, thanks to its generative AI feature that allows users to create professional headshots using their own selfies. TikTok user @Gracesplace’s video showcasing the app’s capabilities went viral, amassing over 42.9 million views. As a result, Remini quickly climbed to the top spot on the U.S. App Store, overtaking Instagram Threads. The app has seen over 22 million worldwide downloads in the past 30 days, with more than 20 million daily active users. Remini generates AI headshots by selecting multiple photos of the user, including different angles and backgrounds, and offers various style options for the output. However, some users have expressed concerns about the AI making unwanted adjustments to their bodies in the photos. Despite this, some users are using their AI-altered “skinny” photos as weight loss motivation. The app is free to download, but its full features require a subscription, priced at $9.99/week or $79.99/year. Remini can also restore old photos and offers options like an Official Barbie filter inspired by the new Barbie movie.
